D2 Transfers

D2 Transfers

I would love to have the option NOT to include them in the Transfer Portal. Slows everything down and I will NEVER go after a D2 guy.

Hey Wayne, just need to realize that if Gary goes along with your request, for those using the option, teams (particularly low to middle prestige programs) will continue to have too many walkons as your association progresses...as was the case in CB2024. In CB2024 while the human player was normally able to get enough transfer players to fill their roster (even if coaching at a low prestige program), many of the low-medium prestige programs controlled by the AI were not because there just weren't enough transfer players.

What ever Gary decides re your request is fine by me, but avoiding that situation (which greatly impacts those teams with a high number of walkons and creates an unnatural situation and skewing results of games) is why I like the addition of D2 players in the Transfer Portal. I hadn't really noticed much of a slow-down in the Transfer Portal in CB25 compared to CB24, but haven't ever checked that.

I think the Transfer Portal is a lot slower with the D2 players.

To check, I imported a CB2024 association to CB2025. Then I SIMMED the entire transfer portal in both CB24 and CB25 for that association. And you're right Wayne, CB2025 is slower. Running the entire simmed transfer portal for CB2024 took 2 minutes (so an avg of 12 sec per session) and running the entire simmed transfer portal for CB2025 took 4 minutes (an avg of 24 sec per session). So an extra 2 minutes.

I will never notice this, though, since I typically work the Transfer Portal sessions rather than sim them. And when I say "work", I mean I work the hell outta them...lots of checking out players and their stats and skill levels and attitudes and figuring out who I'm going to contact and what contact options I will employ with each, and to whom I'm going to offer scholarships. So it truly does take me time, but it's all on my shoulders. For me the time it then takes (20-30 seconds) for DDSCB to execute each session is pretty much insignificant compared to the extensive time I spend "working" each session. :D

Recruiting and the Transfer Portal are the most fun (and most challenging) part of DDSCB for me rather than playing out the games (which I also do and like). And my influence on how well my team does and develops is much less due to the playing out games portion of DDSCB as compared to the recruiting and transfer portal portions.

But since everyone plays the game differenty, OPTIONS are always good. So if implementing such an option is possible and relatively easy to do, then great. It's like the "No Scouting Error" option that was added for CB2025...not something i will ever use, but happy it was added since there are those who feel that's important for how they play the game...and the Use NIL Collectives option, which I definitely will use, but realize others will not.

I spend a LOT of time in the Transfer Portal and think it can be really helpful in building a good team but the wait times are too long with the D2 players in there, IMO.

At the beginning of the Transfer Portal for an association I have, I checked the number of D2 players in the portal and found there to be 432 D2 transfer players. I'm not sure if that's about what is needed for there to be enough players for all teams to fill their rosters if they desire to do so. If it is more than is needed, then decreasing that number to just enough for all teams to be able to fill their rosters might improve the speed with which the transfer sessions process...at least by a little. I'm checking with Gary about this.

From what I recall they were added due to low prestige teams having too many walkons. There were times teams had 8-9 walkons after 5 years and now I see 1 or 2 with 3 walkons after 5 years so just one over normal which is much improved. SO I believe it was a trade off time vs walkons.
